Im Portuguese and I make these salads a lot. A very good addition to this salad is cubes of toasted sourdough, kinda like an Iberian panzanella if you will.
Good question, things like pâté and foie gras come to mind. I suppose caviar comes in a tin too? In Spain I also saw a lot of white asparagus in jars, not quite tinned but same vibes
I wanted to tell you that I had some leftover soupy garbanzos from a different Spanish dish. Garbanzos, potatoes, etc that I had served with fresh fish. Inspired by you, I took the leftovers and topped with tuna and macerated onions. SO GOOD!
The kibbeling is always wonderful. Yes most fresh fish here is great. Also - I live in Zeeland and we are famous for our mussels! (White wine used of course)
I think that this is a wonderful recipe - making it this weekend. I have a large selection of tinned foods in the cupboard because I can’t always get out of the house to get to the market. We get some real quality tinned seafood here in Holland, but also it is relatively easy to get fresh as I literally live by the sea. Tonight is my favourite “fish Friday” item, I am going to the little shack by the market to get “kibbeling” - breaded whitefish which is basically quite a lot like fish and chips without the chips and crunchier.
Hi Sharon, I hope you enjoy it! Kibbeling sounds delicious, I don’t know much about the cuisine in Holland but I have heard very good things about the fish and seafood. Bon appétit!
Loved your post! Recently I was in Sicily and we visited a tuna fisherman and were able to taste and purchase some of his jarred (sorry not tinned!) tuna, and it was amazing!! PS Loved the outfit!

Oh yes that’s a great idea! Obrigado Miguel, I’ll give it a try
I love food that reclaims the sad tinned/canned packages. Outside of sea creatures, what else can be luxury from a can?

This sounds so delicious! The tuna in Spain is delicious, I only grew to like canned tuna since moving abroad.
Thank you! Haha yes, truly a revelation to me

You’re so right about the tinned seafood selection in Europe! We smuggle back some every time we go. And yes, much prettier packaging!
It’s always so beautiful! I think it shows a level of pride about what’s inside the tin which I like

Delicious!
Today's lunch is sorted.
Hope you like it!
I did! Next time, I'm going to add a bit more heat, but it was perfect!
Ñam!
